M78 lies in the Orion B molecular cloud. This beautiful refection nebula is lit by 2 type “B” stars”. It lies about 1350 ly away. This is a wonderful, dusty star forming region. Note the small cluster of reddish Herbig-Haro objects on the top left of the image.
