Another emission nebula in Vela. The surrounding field is dominated by young, blue stars. Note the faint reddish glow around the main nebula. Perhaps the remains of a much larger emission system that has been producing stars for a very long time.
See the bright, rare amethyst colored star in the upper right. This is the 8 the magnitude star HIP 46093 that lies 57000 ly away.
