The constellation Carina has dense star fields. What better place to find a rare Wolf-Rayet star in the helium burning stage of its evolution. This extremely hot star is 63 times larger than the sun, and lies about 5900 ly away. Note the ejected ring surrounding the star.
Wolf- Rayets are major supernova candidates, and early in 2022 the Gran Telescopio in the Canary Islands reported the first recorded supernova explosion (TYpe1) of one.
