NGC2736 is the brightest part of the Vela supernova. Called the “Witch’s Broom” by astrophotographers because of the nice filamentary structure to it. Its about 800 ly away , and is moving outward at a speed of about 400,000 mph. Its supernova explosion occurred about 11,000 years ago.
