IC2944 exhibits an elongated arm that branches out like a slingshot.
IC2948 has multiple interesting objects in it. Dark Thackeray gloubules can be seen in the bright patch of nebulosity on the right. Note the small, faint blue/grey planetary nebula about 2/3rds of the way down and about 2/3rds of the way across from the left in the picture.
While the Thackery (Bok) globules appear to be floating along gently in space, they actually rage around each other at supersonic speeds as if they were cast overboard in a violently rolling cosmic ocean.
