NGC6118 lies some 83 million ly away in Serpens. Its a little larger than our own Milky Way. In some ways it reminds you of the opening line in Star Wars – “Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away”.
Its spiral arms are loosely wound, and their tails like tuning forks. The HII regions are intense enough to still be displayed at this great distance.
