The nebula NGC1555 lies about 400 ly away. It displays both emission and reflection characteristics. The dusty cavity contains an early sun like star in its formative stages called T Tauri, which illuminates the surrounding cloud.

The cloud is referred to as “Hind’s Variable Nebula”. It is a Herbig-Haro object.

Both star and cloud are variable but not at the same time.
