NGC1788 is a pretty dynamic looking object. It is located on the far western edge of Orion about 1300 ly away.
A bright blue reflection nebula is surrounded by an arch of glowing red hydrogen. Young stars in the nucleus of the activity are only about 1 million years old.
A giant, dust enriched molecular field of gas stretches down from the nucleus. The whole field is overlaid by an open cluster of bright foreground stars.
