AM 1258-303 – Chile

AM 1258-303 is a cluster of interacting galaxies about 270 million ly out in Centaurus. It looks like a really bad bar fight.

NGC4905 in the middle displays a large tidal tail to the right, like a boxer’s jab, toward ESO 493-34 on its right. That galaxy appears to have lost a spiral arm. It further displays a large tidal shell and very long tidal tail as a result of the encounter.
