LBN878 – Chile

Lynd’s Bright Nebula 878 in Orion is part of a complex region. It is the reddish, curved wall on the right side. It resembles a supernova shock wave.

The small yellowish nebula to the left is LBN879. The dark area around it has been labeled Barnard 35 – although the dark, dust region to the right by the red arch would seem like a better Barnard candidate.
